Living in Tulsa my whole life, I forget the majestic nature that is this THE GOLDEN DRILLER. I live a mere 15 miles away from the 6th tallest statue in the United States, which is kind of a big deal (pun intended). Recently a cousin visited and requested to see the Driller and until then I took this 75 foot, 43,500 pound Tulsan Oil Worker*, for granted. I see it yearly at the Tulsa State Fair and throughout the year at various events at the River Spirit Expo Center, so dropping by just to visit this guy was a treat, for the whole family. Not only is it an impressive sight, it's ABSOLUTELY FREE! This frugal Oklahoman Mom, loves that word! (FREE)

I saw him wearing a shirt once, but prefer him shirtless

So why should one visit the Driller, aside from the fact that he's free? I would go for the photo op. He's tall, so it's hard to get a great shot, but my family and I tried to get some great shots of his Shaquille O'neill sized oil worker boots.

Another reason to visit the Golden Driller? Now that the weather is better, Josh's Snow Shack is open for business! Josh's is a few feet from The Driller.

But the best reason to visit is for the crazy selfies!

Go explore the Golden Driller yourself! In the parking lot of the Tulsa Expo Center, 4145 E 21st St, Tulsa, OK 74114

Where should we go next? What should we do? We want to see places near and in Oklahoma. Thanks for your ideas and for looking at this blog.

*Fact about the Driller found on Wikipedia

Photos by Nicole Miller and the subjects are my family. No one was harmed in the making of this blog post.
