Splash Pad at Chandler Park 6500 W. 21st St, in Tulsa,OK

This summer, Oklahoma's largest splash pad opened....in MY BACKYARD! (basically, it's 20 miles from my house but, seriously, how did I get this lucky?) When I started this blog I was planning on going around the state to fun, lesser known places and telling everyone who would listen (or read this thing) about all the fun things they can do as a family. I didn't anticipate such an attraction opening so close to my house. I'm not complaining, but I was hoping this blog would motivate me to drive elsewhere and experience our beautiful state and it's surrounding attractions more than I have been. Chandler Park, located near Berryhill in Tulsa is now another huge attraction in our state, touting the state's largest splash pad. This splash pad is a mini-water park! There are 4 water slides attached to one large water playground, surrounded by several smaller water features on the concrete. When you climb onto the big playground you will get wet! Water is squirting from all Unfortunately, unlike other splash pads, parents of littles can'ts just sit back and watch their children get wet. Since the park is so big and awesome, parents of small children may just want to have their kids stay on the ground and not go up onto the toy. (Ha! As if that will happen!) When we visited, as evidenced by the photo, the stairs were congested and young children will need to be escorted by a parent to stay safe! I didn't realize that and did not come prepared to be soaking wet. It took 2 minutes for me to be soaked through! I was not emotionally and fashionably prepared for this as evidenced by everyone who ran into to me the rest of the day in my soggy outfit!

On a more serious note, there were several daycares and field trips happening when we visited so there wasn't great supervision of all these children on the slides so there was many opportunities for mishaps. Thankfully the park provided some volunteers to monitor at the bottom of the slides to help keep everyone safe but it wasn't enough. The stairs were just packed with pushing kids, so it is a safety issue. I stayed next to my little man on the stairs to keep him from being pushed down. However, I did allow my nine year old to play independently.

I caught the moment, the large spinning wheel soaked tens of people at the Chandler Splash Pad! But you have to watch the video to the end!

I had heard so much about this splash pad, so when we went we were also very much delighted by a brand new playground with no water! Not only that, this park was decked out with picnic tables and plenty of places to have a picnic or sit back and watch your kids (if they are older!!)

Be sure to swipe right to see all the fun things that await your children at the new playground.

Here is a video of the awesome playground my kids just loved!

Chandler Park is located at 6500 W. 21st in Tulsa. These new awesome facilities have plenty of covered spaces and picnic tables. However, dogs are not allowed in splash pad zone and surrounding areas. They will have to splash elsewhere :(
