Tucked near downtown Tulsa, The Children's museum is a great indoor place to take your kids to play, learn and explore.

A cold spring day with kids who are ready to play, where should we go? What should we do? In Tulsa, the indoor play options are few and far between and most of them are too expensive for a family of five. We were very happy to explore the Tulsa's Children's museum and Discovery Lab. At only $6 a person, it was a great option for our family!
The Tulsa Children's Museum is a fun and educational place for young kids to learn and play!

When we attended the museum there were two main themes for the exhibits: insects and animation. The categories were great for my kids as there is quite an age difference between the three (13, 9, and 3). There was something for everyone. I especially appreciated the "toddler area" which was for the younger people only.

As the mom of a toddler, I appreciate when fun places like the Discovery Lab have areas just for our littles where they are less likely to be trampled by the older kids!
The Children's Museum experience comes complete with an indoor playground, large enough that even adults could join in on the fun! Much of the play opportunities were also learning opportunities for the kids, reinforcing concepts such as the laws of gravity, motion, and inertia.
The kids spent a lot of time making music at this exhibit in the museum which uses PVC pipes of different lengths and flip-flops to create fun, unique sounds.
The kids spent a lot of time in ANIMATION LAND, an area where they learned about several different types of animation and also about adding sound to their creations. This exhibit was one of their favorites aside from the indoor playground.
We spent about 2 hours at the museum, but could have spent more if we had been smart and packed a lunch. I'd suggest making a day of it, at $6 a person, it would be a better deal for us and there was more to do to keep the kids entertained. Or, become a member and make several short trips a month! The indoor play area would be worth it for most parents. In future visits, I plan to stay longer than 2 hours, and bring sack lunches for the kids. Although no food is allowed inside, there were some areas to eat near the building as it is situated WITHIN A PARK!
The price was great for our family and would have been a better deal if we had stayed longer. There was more to do and enjoy, our family just got too hungry! This is definitely a great place to go play when the weather is warmer too, when it is too warm the kids can play inside the museum or in the splash pad right outside the front door. Bring a sack lunch and eat it in the park. No food is allowed or served in the museum
